More bass in the place and bounce to the ounce.

This remix has more jump than a box of frogs on amphetamines. Wait for the drop cause its got a dubbed out sting in its tale.
Care of Californian duo I.M. Elliot and Quix22.
CAUTION!

Mongrel are getting some serious remix attention on their new release.

We all know by now that Mongrel are some kind of indie super group and expectations are pretty high for the forthcoming album “Better than Heavy”.
They hit the road soon and that’s definitely a show worth tracking down in your area. In the meantime here are some super hyped remixes from their single release “Hit from the Morning Sun”.
Surprisingly I can’t picker a winner out of these three as they all deliver in their own way.
SUPER!

Keeping this weeks very loose theme of Motown remixes (loose as in we have had a previous post this week on a similar subject) here is Smokey Robinson re reubbed for 2009.

Action Jackson is a DJ/Produce from Inidana USA and has had my attention since his slaying of Hall and Oates “out of Touch” track.
Here Mr Jackson in the same playful bmore club mood and gives the Smokey classic some tender prodding in all the right places. It so easy for bmore remixes of Motown to go way too far. No fear here! Check Action Jackson myspace for more remixes.
JUMP!

Those happy people over at evol are hosting Metronomy tonight at Korova bar.

There’s so many top bands hitting Liverpool in the next week for MTV Music week and although this isn’t part of the line-up it’s still a decent warm-up for what’s gonna be a feast of amazing music.
I’m rocking up tonight, I did a favour for a sailor so got free tickets. Sometimes it pays to know your way around an ADSL router J but to be fair I would have gone whatever.
Anyway if you see me with my pregnant wife please give us a wassurp and you can have a rub of the CMYK baby belly J
Also honorable mention to CocknBullKid who are supporting… super dope lineup!

So I don’t know much about Matthew Dear but I know everything that “the” Juan Maclean touches goes to gold.

Juan has done a host of new remixes for this new release, here’s a taste of what to expect.
I love the build on this track to the guitar finale. Get your New York pump hustle on!

CMYK always goes a bit further to find the hottest new beat makers… here we drop the man SOOHAN.
This is moody and raw but comes through at the end with the bmore bounce just like a night with partycmyk… The track even got some serious dope artwork out our man Ollie! Props to him never missing a beat!
Soohan lives in Maryland at the moment adn DJs up and down the east coast with his pal Phil Real. He’s had blog love already from Palms Out and Discobelle but hey we give you some rare grafic too? Bobby LaBeat has doen a great job of sharpening up this essential soul classic and licking it just right for 2k8 dancefloor..
The original has been a pretty regular track whenever we get together at CMYK central and i know that if you have’t heard it before this is gonna be your new favourite bmore remix. This refix has just enough sass to keep the neck snappping and the fingers tapping.
Good job Bobby and thanks for letting us post your work. Show Bobby some love at his myspace..
ENJOY

Archie Bell & The Drells – Tighten Up (Bobby LaBeat Re-work)
Brrrrrrap! Brrrrrap! Pianos, breakbeats, wonky vocals and airhorns… I’m back in 1990 and lovin it.

Dive in, the water is fine…
Thanks to welcome to the dance floor

K9 Posse – Aint Nothin To It (Mighty Mi remix)
PS One of the guys from K9 Posse is Eddie Murphys brother..fact!
At the beginning of the year DJ U-Tern posted these amazing remixes of the AIH track on his blog One Day Later

U-tern has been a CMYK favourite for some time… mixing electro, disco and bmore on his essential vinyl releases “The Cookie Jar EP” series.
I totally slept on his blog but I’ve been rinsing it all day today and suggest you do the same. There is so much goodness on there its hard to know where to start. Definitely try and pick up some of his sessions from Brooklyn radio
I decided to go with this remix as its so funk fresh thats its hard to resist.
Give U-Tern some love at his blog One Day later or over at his myspace

If the Olympics decided to introduce electro banging remixes as a medal event then the fully fitted crew would be the US team…

This stella EP hit the stores last week on vinyl and is due to pop up on mp3 at turntable lab in the next couple weeks..
This is a proper funk fuelled electro disco taken to the limits.. i can’t help smiling when i think of this ep.
Cool, sexy, experimtental and full of joy in a “i’m not a hippy but i do want to enjoy everything” kind of way..
Heres the Justice, Llil Wayne Mashup remix kind of thing from the EP… but this is just the start.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Thunderheist released their new ep “Jerk it” a couple days ago. So using blog logic, that means i get to make a post and include there highly recommendable track “Suenos Dulces”.

Thunderheist are a toronto based duo that don’t do what you think they’re going to…
I’m looking at the picture above and i’m like “yeah morcheeba man …”
Hell no! This is upfront and uptight shizzle y’all.. bmore breaks, sassy rappin and hot remixes make this a serious CMYK recommendation…
The new EP comes with Jokers of the Scene, Nacho Lovers and JFK on the fix.. who all do their thing. I’m just glad that the band have decided to let the blog world publish a few of there back catalogue to get the hype rolling cause then i get to share some extras with ya..
Enjoy

Australian glitter pumpers PNAU have been heavily bloggable for a while now, more artcore than hardcore their track Embrace is a delicious synth pop track that swirls and dreams across a dancefloor like ABBA on acid.
It’s now been given a bit of a banger make over from a Fred Falke and Miami Horror collaboration… but in a very sympathetic way. The intro has been beefed up and the synths punch heavier over Ladyhawke’s ethereal vocals…
I perfer the original but why don’t you tell us whats hitting the mark..

PNAU feat. Ladyhawke – Embrace (Fred Falke and Miami Horror remix)
When this track dropped into the Inbox I had to read the description from remix team JAPATTACK more than once..
I thought the little Philly maestros were having a fkin larf!!

I’d already had the pleasure of hearing JAPATTACK’s remix of Pase Rock the week previous. Turns out now they are doing the honors for fag rap artist Sgt Sass…
I hadn’t heard of fag rap before but apparently it exists and its trying
to reclaim “faggot” in the same way female rappers like Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim reclaimed “bitch” in the late ’90s
Anyway enjoy some JAPATTACK remixes include the one about the GHEYS… they’re pretty good!!

Some woman goes nuts on a bus somewhere in the U S of A.. she gets her weave pulled out… it gets put on YouTube
and then some cheeky club DJs edit it all together to make a bmore banger that all the clubs from LA to NYC are hammering…
Ticket for the bus $2
Angels Cap $15
Looking like a crack freak in front of the whole world and then getting a club banger treatment… totally priceless
Check the mp3
Yes yes y’all… its soo hot in the NYC today the buildings are melting… what we need is some latin fuelled rap goodness to party in the sweet sunshine…
Nothing better than this top nugget from the Time Machine
Been meaning to put a post about these up for a while. The indie true skoolers had a good release a couple of years ago with the LP “Slow your Roll”. Now they are back and the new stuff is sounding fresher than ever.
Feel the love we got for these boys and pay them a visit at their mySpace site…

Oh dear there are some remixes that you think won’t work but then do… toodla t and Hot chip anyone?
However at another level there are some tracks that should never be remixed by anyone.
Dead Prez – Bigger than hip hop falls under this banner…. loved by ol skoolers , new coolers and just foolers this track is sacred next to De la souls – eye know and ATCQ – Scenario.
Step in the arena flufftronix

He’s gone where no man should have gone at all… he’s remixed that shit!!
Who does this guy think he is other than a hipster with a lame hoodie! Well he’s done a good job.
