Fromage are an out and out, good times, disco party crew from Melbourne Australia. They hit us up with loads of quality disco edits and I just had to share.
Fromage have been the host of some quality parties in recent years… building off the back of an unwavering good taste in quality disco music.
Most recently they hosted Todd Terje at their weekly La Di Da event.(I had the pleasure of actually taking Mr Terje to the recent Soulfulvibes gig in Liverpool UK a few weeks ago. I couldn’t go to the night so I ended up as the driver. I think I went a bit far in the car banging on about UK funky to “the Todd” but who cares, I’m that kind of guy!)
Back to Fromage. Here are as many of their edits as I could upload in an afternoon. There are more if you go diggin around in their facebook or myspace site… and don’t forget their mixtape selections over at blentwell.
Those happy people over at evol are hosting Metronomy tonight at Korova bar.
There’s so many top bands hitting Liverpool in the next week for MTV Music week and although this isn’t part of the line-up it’s still a decent warm-up for what’s gonna be a feast of amazing music.
I’m rocking up tonight, I did a favour for a sailor so got free tickets. Sometimes it pays to know your way around an ADSL router J but to be fair I would have gone whatever.
Anyway if you see me with my pregnant wife please give us a wassurp and you can have a rub of the CMYK baby belly J
Also honorable mention to CocknBullKid who are supporting… super dope lineup!
Space , the future, policemen and exclamation points.. weird combo but so is Luke and Becs (reppin Big Brother UK y’all!)
Futurecop! is a guy called manzur iqbal… i think thats him here. He started off a year or too ago with absolutely no idea how to produce tracks. Thats right zip, nada. Believe that? Nah me neither but hey the hype goes on.
Now the guy is dropping bonafied nu disco gems.
Nasa is a fun, futuristic dancefloor laser beam. The synths skip across the speakers like little bubbles in a glass of iced perrier. Wow it must be hot cause this tracks gone straight to my head… wtf am i on about.
Just listen you’ll soon find out. Futurecop! releases an EP soon, and NASA will appear on the next CMYK mixtape which i promise is on its way.
Bueno!
MP3 -(Removed at Futerecops request – wait for the EP release)
Australian glitter pumpers PNAU have been heavily bloggable for a while now, more artcore than hardcore their track Embrace is a delicious synth pop track that swirls and dreams across a dancefloor like ABBA on acid.
It’s now been given a bit of a banger make over from a Fred Falke and Miami Horror collaboration… but in a very sympathetic way. The intro has been beefed up and the synths punch heavier over Ladyhawke’s ethereal vocals…
I perfer the original but why don’t you tell us whats hitting the mark..
Since i am in New York I just had to make the first post from here Big Apple related and since i bought this record today in a little shop in Brooklyn and its from a New York label then it just seemed like fate…
Holy Ghost – Hold On got a release in October last year.. but it still gets the odd blog mention.. I was late picking it up myself but since hearing it on an Eli Escobar mixtape I’ve had this track in my head non stop. I love the way this track holds the vocals back until you are really into the groove of the synths..
I got to say i wasn’t a fan of Chromeo for a long time. But when the remix talent is as good as theses contenders pulled in for the latest Chromeo release then who can argue..
Estaw has been popping up with some quality remixes and cuts recently, most of which can be found at his home from home blog, the infamous Palms Out Sounds.
He hits the UK record shops with what is possibly his first full 12″ release
this week with the pretty dope Break It Down.
The release comes with a strong array of remixes from the likes of Herve, Detboi and Chew Fu his palms out bro.
But despite the heavy weights its the original that does it for me and is getting the serious CMYK love.
This is fresh rap rave … an adventure into the dope side of house.
Its good to see Chew Fu giving his bro a hand…
He even includes his own remix on a mix he recently did
Have you recently helped your bro’s out?
What best remix you have done for your bro’s?
Her new album is due for release in a couple of months and is cool mix of pop synth lushness and spiky intelligent lyrics. The video is totally bonnie tyler on acid…

15th May Great Escape Festival Brighton
24th May Dot To Dot Festival Nottingham/Bristol
