Mongrel are getting some serious remix attention on their new release.
We all know by now that Mongrel are some kind of indie super group and expectations are pretty high for the forthcoming album “Better than Heavy”.
They hit the road soon and that’s definitely a show worth tracking down in your area. In the meantime here are some super hyped remixes from their single release “Hit from the Morning Sun”.
Surprisingly I can’t picker a winner out of these three as they all deliver in their own way.
Keeping this weeks very loose theme of Motown remixes (loose as in we have had a previous post this week on a similar subject) here is Smokey Robinson re reubbed for 2009.
Action Jackson is a DJ/Produce from Inidana USA and has had my attention since his slaying of Hall and Oates “out of Touch” track.
Here Mr Jackson in the same playful bmore club mood and gives the Smokey classic some tender prodding in all the right places. It so easy for bmore remixes of Motown to go way too far. No fear here! Check Action Jackson myspace for more remixes.
Lets look at the facts…. track choice great, transitions great, execution great.
Just goes to show what happens when talent and taste come together. Make sure you cop this now cause i think this is going to go on CD sale soon and we might get a takedown for it. Thanks to U-Tern for giving us the go ahead to throw this up.
This post goes out to my homies Logan and Ali who are out there making a whole load of sweet music themsleves. I know they’re gonna love this mix and it will keep them poppin til the next PARTYCMYK mash hits the tapedeck.
PEACE

I guess both these tracks have been floatin around for like years in blog time but they go well together and its puts a new slant on the fake blood instro to have rye rye’s spit all over it..
The masher is Andy George who co hosts the moda parties with his steez Jaymo.. Looking forward to more from this fella.
PS The parties look ill! Where’s the CMYK invite guy?
As soon as i heard this track i knew i had to share it with the blogaverse. I hit my man Bodyjacking up and he was happy to give me the go ahead so check this out. A crazy, jacked up , break-in-the-face party tune with a star wars lick. Not something you come across everyday.
Bodyjacking is a top fella and you can catch him hanging about on the low-bee forums pretty much most days.. his myspace doesn’t get much of his attention probably cause he’s busy giving up high quality product to the world. If you need to get in touch (labels get with it) then you can drop us a line and i’ll forward details on.
This one goes out to my man Will…. I know you gonna dig this..

Bobby LaBeat has doen a great job of sharpening up this essential soul classic and licking it just right for 2k8 dancefloor..
The original has been a pretty regular track whenever we get together at CMYK central and i know that if you have’t heard it before this is gonna be your new favourite bmore remix. This refix has just enough sass to keep the neck snappping and the fingers tapping.
Tittsworth has a new album out, “Twelve Steps”, and it’s a collection of brand new tracks.
The promo track from the album is this sickness with Kid Sister and Pase Rock.
To buy the album head to juno…
Good thing about having a music blog is people start wanting to share their music back with you.

Jay Eny sent us this quality mixtape he’s done for the summer and its fresh from the bud produce…

Go! (Say Wut)
Still Rolling (DJ King Tutt)

anyway hope you enjoy the mix as much as we did here.. (especially liking the Down Down Down track… yo Jay can you hit me up with a copy?)
Sometimes a tune will start a chain reaction in your brain that you just can’t stop. Last week “Set if off” did that to me. I heard it and had to know more.
The track was recorded in 1984 by Walter Gibbons and released as an indie 12″. Walter had been a pioneering disco dj during the 70s, creating a lot of the techniques DJs use today. Come the early 80s and Walter had slipped from the scene a bit, then suddenly he released this incredible chicago house killer cut. It was quickly picked up by Larry Levan and became a Paradise Garage legend spawning imitations and various “answer-back” versions.
Hats off to the innovators!
I might make this a regular spot of retro electro/house if you show some love…
Space , the future, policemen and exclamation points.. weird combo but so is Luke and Becs (reppin Big Brother UK y’all!)
Futurecop! is a guy called manzur iqbal… i think thats him here. He started off a year or too ago with absolutely no idea how to produce tracks. Thats right zip, nada. Believe that? Nah me neither but hey the hype goes on.
Now the guy is dropping bonafied nu disco gems.
Nasa is a fun, futuristic dancefloor laser beam. The synths skip across the speakers like little bubbles in a glass of iced perrier. Wow it must be hot cause this tracks gone straight to my head… wtf am i on about.
Just listen you’ll soon find out. Futurecop! releases an EP soon, and NASA will appear on the next CMYK mixtape which i promise is on its way.
Bueno!
MP3 -(Removed at Futerecops request – wait for the EP release)
At the beginning of the year DJ U-Tern posted these amazing remixes of the AIH track on his blog One Day Later
U-tern has been a CMYK favourite for some time… mixing electro, disco and bmore on his essential vinyl releases “The Cookie Jar EP” series.
I totally slept on his blog but I’ve been rinsing it all day today and suggest you do the same. There is so much goodness on there its hard to know where to start. Definitely try and pick up some of his sessions from Brooklyn radio
I decided to go with this remix as its so funk fresh thats its hard to resist.
Thunderheist released their new ep “Jerk it” a couple days ago. So using blog logic, that means i get to make a post and include there highly recommendable track “Suenos Dulces”.
Thunderheist are a toronto based duo that don’t do what you think they’re going to…
I’m looking at the picture above and i’m like “yeah morcheeba man …”
Hell no! This is upfront and uptight shizzle y’all.. bmore breaks, sassy rappin and hot remixes make this a serious CMYK recommendation…
The new EP comes with Jokers of the Scene, Nacho Lovers and JFK on the fix.. who all do their thing. I’m just glad that the band have decided to let the blog world publish a few of there back catalogue to get the hype rolling cause then i get to share some extras with ya..
Australian glitter pumpers PNAU have been heavily bloggable for a while now, more artcore than hardcore their track Embrace is a delicious synth pop track that swirls and dreams across a dancefloor like ABBA on acid.
It’s now been given a bit of a banger make over from a Fred Falke and Miami Horror collaboration… but in a very sympathetic way. The intro has been beefed up and the synths punch heavier over Ladyhawke’s ethereal vocals…
I perfer the original but why don’t you tell us whats hitting the mark..
Urban music is undergoing some serious changes at the moment and its spawning some really interesting cross over genres.. A notable offspring of Hip Hop and cousin to the notorious Bmore sound is the New Orleans Bounce flavour…Its biggest blog champion is Emynd
The man has put together a dope mixtape of BOUNCE cuts in conjunction with Mad Decent and we got it fresh and direct for you…
For me this is a little bit funkier than the BMore jump and doesn’t come with the chedda sections alla Tittsworth and Bananas..
Anyway time for you to make your own mind up..this is sure fire Flava in ya Ear!!
Tracklisting for the mixtape and a fuller explanation of BOUNCE can be checked at Emynd’s own blog CrossFadedBacon which is well worth a visit.
I guess y’all know what crazy Pase rocks fans we are at CMYK..
The man himself has just released his new track “Get Money Kids” at the Fully Fitted blog…
If this was in a genre I think it would probably fit into techfunkglitchrap…stick that in ya ipod and see if it likes it..
When this track dropped into the Inbox I had to read the description from remix team JAPATTACK more than once..
I thought the little Philly maestros were having a fkin larf!!
I’d already had the pleasure of hearing JAPATTACK’s remix of Pase Rock the week previous. Turns out now they are doing the honors for fag rap artist Sgt Sass…
I hadn’t heard of fag rap before but apparently it exists and its trying
to reclaim “faggot” in the same way female rappers like Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim reclaimed “bitch” in the late ’90s
Anyway enjoy some JAPATTACK remixes include the one about the GHEYS… they’re pretty good!!
