I think I have stumbled into a genre I had no idea existed, or have I? You tell me.

Is this yacht rock? I’ve know idea but the dreamy vocals, peppy synths and grown up piano lines all add up to something very sophisticated.

Clubfeet got in touch about a post we made earlier in the week for the Juan Maclean remix on Circlesquare. You can definitely tell these Melbourne, Australia guys are listening to their fair share of NYC and French nu disco but still they have that southern hemisphere humor and pop penchant that makes them a whole lot easier to get on with, especially after a long night with no sleep.

I can’t wait for the new album from the Doves. Luckily for me the single is out today.

 

If this new track is anything to go by then 2 years in the making is well worth it. And hopefully I’ll be able to catch them on the rounds live.

Lets hope they don’t DJ though cause I’ve seen them do that and they sucked (maybe that was an off night).

We are told that the world of Circelsquare is a conflicted one. After listening to some of their new material including this heavy remix from the Juan Maclean I am in no conflict over being able to say this is serial dopeness.

The Criclesquare album “Songs about Dancing and Music” is out now, while the single “Hey you guys” ,with Juan Maclean remixes as well as Mickey Moonlight from the Ed Banger camp, is out from April 7^th 2k9. I had a baby Roundup #1!

That’s right y’all, the pitter patter of little feet were heard at PARTYCMYK central on 12^th March 2k9 (which was the birthday for this here blog too).

We called our little bundle of bass Finn.

I have been meaning to give some props to OH Snap! for some time.

 

His tracks are fiendishly funky and always put a smile on the face. Just like his bass line, Oh Snap’s raps are fresh and have a little bit of tongue in a cheek somewhere.

The Danes have sent a parcel of lovely cuts right to my door.

 

I’ve got to confess when I think about Danish music nothing really stands out saying “Yo!, we’re Danish and we are rocking this shizzle”
.. but there are probably some artists out there from Denmark that are banging, right?

Well actually yeah dam right there is… label Music for Dreams have hard evidence. To prove it they sent these gems our way.

First up comes two tracks from the Mikkel Hess recording project Hess is More. He has produced a number of albums over the past year and is about to set sail to a compendium of his favorite works called “Hits”. We have the fortune of being able to post a joint from his last album Denial released in 2008 called “Ssshhh” plus a cosmic sounding remix of an older track by Pocketknife.

Next up comes some quality remixes of material from the Boom Clap Bachelors… a retro disco touch from Tuff City kids and a laid back space adventure from Supertoels.
