Stag & Dagger is a great concept with some great live acts on the line-up!
It’s this Thursday the 15th May 6pm - 12am.
One ticket gives access to all 15 venues and all areas, bit like a street festival with no door prices, which allows 5,000 festival goers to enjoy over a 100 live acts (Guaranteed you won’t be able to see every band, but hey use your Brains, just pick your favourites and for £15 + Booking fee what else is there to do for that price on a Thursday in London?)
Its a bit of a monster pub crawl with your favourite bands playing live when you pop down your local pub!
Line-up Includes: A-Trak, DSL, Cadence Weapon, Dead Kids, Hot Chip DJ’s, Moshi Moshi DJ’s and many more!
In association with Vice Magazine, so Im sure this event will be followed by some very interesting online documentaries, check out the Epicly Later’d - Wild Ride Series and see how the current Emerica team live life on the road!
Who should remix kylie next? Why haven’t Designer Drugs they seem to be doing everyone else at the moment??? When will Madonna ask Spank Rock to remix her… she needs it!
Well they are back on point. Ricardo from DKM popped an email to us about a new remix they have done for Arizona based indie rap rockers Silver Medallion. (This is band is soo fresh the only picture i could get was this T-Shirt print ….)
I’ve not heard the original of Boom so i can’t comment on what DKM have added but standalone this is a strong track with DKM’s usually tough electro clash sound pumping throughout..
Its late and i really should be getting to bed but i just gotta make sure you internet junkies hear this remix..
Toddla T totally kills this Hot Chip track… and i mean kills it. He messes with it like in a “Hostel“ movie or something, then puts it through all 4 “Saw” films and then stamps on it just out of spite..
The single is out now with the remix floating on the b-side… For your previewing pleasure please feel free to grab this mp3 when you get a chance.. but always support the artist, and remember be safe out there!
I got to say i wasn’t a fan of Chromeo for a long time. But when the remix talent is as good as theses contenders pulled in for the latest Chromeo release then who can argue..
Apology’s Justice, but this clip doesn’t show what a superb piece of design there latest video is, a cross between the cinematic intro’s and outro’s on all your favourite films and shows.
If you’re lucky and live in one of the European towns mentioned in this link here (Manchester tonight anyone?) then you will be able to catch our favourite hip hop turned electro house producer DJ A-Trak doing his turntable thing this spring…
The boy from canada (seen above holding mates piss) has come a long way since becoming the youngest ever winnner of the DMC DJ Championships.
(I still giggle at the footage of him DJing from around those days at an event called the Summit…. his mum proudly tapping here foot as he jammed with Noise and Roc Raider…)
Anyway A-Track is now a top party rocker and plots world domination with his record label Fools Gold.
Top A-Trak remixes that have been floating around and heavy hitters at CMYK parties are the mighty:
Bonus for you is that we got a fresh new trak from friend and Fools Gold alumni Sammy Bananas. I think you can only describe this as properly bananas..
The clip explains how Jamie Principle a kid from Chicago shook the Chicago clubscene with the original “Your Love” in later made famous by Frankie Knuckles and Candi Staton (complete with Spanish subtitles amigos!)
Fast forward to 22 years later and Friendly Fires give it the nod by regularly playing there version of this classic at gigs, check out Moshi Moshi Record Label:
Estaw has been popping up with some quality remixes and cuts recently, most of which can be found at his home from home blog, the infamous Palms Out Sounds.
He hits the UK record shops with what is possibly his first full 12″ release
this week with the pretty dope Break It Down.
The release comes with a strong array of remixes from the likes of Herve, Detboi and Chew Fu his palms out bro.
But despite the heavy weights its the original that does it for me and is getting the serious CMYK love.
This is fresh rap rave … an adventure into the dope side of house.
Its good to see Chew Fu giving his bro a hand…
He even includes his own remix on a mix he recently did
Have you recently helped your bro’s out?
What best remix you have done for your bro’s?
There is a pretty amazing line up of artists coming our way at the end of May…
Not only is the big CMYK party at the University Guild on 23rd
but the lucky people of Liverpool also have Sound Week starting Tuesday 27th May.
No doubt we’ll do a fuller blog post here later the time but what i can tell you is Santogold is hitting town that week, hosting Alma de Cuba on Wedneday 28th.
The New York based performer who is hotly tipped this year to break through is
about to release her album mid May and her single LES Artistes is already making waves.
For your pleasure we have the always good xxxchange doing the duties on the remix.
Cover art is fading as fast as vinyl and CDs i guess….
once we all go digital will we need it anymore?
Will bloggers make their own cover art?
Will I become totally digital like the music and sleep on a bed made of silicon?
Can i live on electricity?
See the super fresh rap raver on 9th May 2k8 at the always messy evol night in Korova.
Five Deez was always on the edgier side of the indie rap scene.
Creating some prime crossover tracks around the early naughties and was a frequent collaborator with the “Crack Mole’s” downtempo favourites Nujabes
Since then he has been branching into the bmore and rap rave scene
with devastating effect.
Last years Lindsey Lohan track slayed many a dancefloor and we can never
forget ”So Fucking Disco”.
