Dead Prez - Bigger Than Hip Hop (Ghetto House refix)

Oh dear there are some remixes that you think won’t work but then do… toodla t and Hot chip anyone?

However at another level there are some tracks that should never be remixed by anyone.

Dead Prez - Bigger than hip hop falls under this banner…. loved by ol skoolers , new coolers and just foolers this track is sacred next to De la souls - eye know and ATCQ - Scenario.

Step in the arena flufftronix

He’s gone where no man should have gone at all… he’s remixed that shit!!

Who does this guy think he is other than a hipster with a lame hoodie! Well he’s done a good job.
For you pleasure here is:

Dead Prez - Bigger Than Hip Hop (Ghetto House refix)

PS you might be able to find his “shark step” anthem shark attack if you have a look here but i wouldn’t …. its scarey stuff

Its a London thing!

Stag & Dagger is a great concept with some great live acts on the line-up!

It’s this Thursday the 15th May 6pm - 12am.

One ticket gives access to all 15 venues and all areas, bit like a street festival with no door prices, which allows 5,000 festival goers to enjoy over a 100 live acts (Guaranteed you won’t be able to see every band, but hey use your Brains, just pick your favourites and for £15 + Booking fee what else is there to do for that price on a Thursday in London?)

Its a bit of a monster pub crawl with your favourite bands playing live when you pop down your local pub!

Check out the line-up: Stag & Dagger

Line-up Includes: A-Trak, DSL, Cadence Weapon, Dead Kids, Hot Chip DJ’s, Moshi Moshi DJ’s and many more!

In association with Vice Magazine, so Im sure this event will be followed by some very interesting online documentaries, check out the Epicly Later’d - Wild Ride Series and see how the current Emerica team live life on the road!

Kylie Minogue - Heart Beat Rock (Benny Blanco remix)

Kylie’s a pop princess, she’s always ahead of the curve, the french love her and now ghetto stars spank rock have made her down right dirty!

Benny blanco has taken a perfectly pleasant album filler and and given it some serious ghetto tech rudeness.

Check this out and go all damp in the right places….

Kylie Minogue - Heart Beat Rock (Benny Blanco remix)

Who should remix kylie next? Why haven’t Designer Drugs they seem to be doing everyone else at the moment??? When will Madonna ask Spank Rock to remix her… she needs it!

Silver Medallion - Boom (Danced Killed and Moved)

We mentioned Dance Kill Move in a previous post when they where giving Britney a workout..

Well they are back on point. Ricardo from DKM popped an email to us about a new remix they have done for  Arizona based indie rap rockers Silver Medallion. (This is band is soo fresh the only picture i could get was this T-Shirt print ….)

I’ve not heard the original of Boom so i can’t comment on what DKM have added but standalone this is a strong track with DKM’s usually tough electro clash sound pumping throughout..

You can get it here

Silver Medallion - Boom (Danced Killed and Moved)

Thanks for the re-up Ricardo…feel the CMYK love!

Hot Chip - One Pure Thought (Toddla T Remix)

Its late and i really should be getting to bed but i just gotta make sure you internet junkies hear this remix..

Toddla T totally kills this Hot Chip track… and i mean kills it. He messes with it like in a “Hostel“ movie or something, then puts it through all 4 “Saw” films and then stamps on it just out of spite..

The single is out now with the remix floating on the b-side… For your previewing pleasure please feel free to grab this mp3 when you get a chance.. but always support the artist, and remember be safe out there!

Chromeo - Fancy Footwork (Remixes)

Hola party people… We mentioned his brother A-Trak last week so only fair to mention the other Macklovitch brother and his super disco group Chromeo.

I got to say i wasn’t a fan of Chromeo for a long time. But when the remix talent is as good as theses contenders pulled in for the latest Chromeo release then who can argue..

Favourites are the Kissy Sellout work and the Russ Chimes throwdown… floor shaking certs!

Check the links below for mp3s.

This clip doesn’t do it…..Justice - DVNO

Apology’s Justice, but this clip doesn’t show what a superb piece of design there latest video is, a cross between the cinematic intro’s and outro’s on all your favourite films and shows.

It’s not there first classic video either check out the T-shirt homage: Justice - D.A.N.C.E  and a nifty remix by those crazy Canadian’s MstrKrft who need a few vowels from Carol Vorderman.

And finally one from the bottom and two from the top the classic, one for lad’s and certain ladies: Simian Mobile Disco - Hustler.

Cold Roses…….FREE 7″ with NME 07/05/08

Don’t know about you but I’d expect to see some pretty decent remixes on the way out of Coldplay’s new album tracks, especially the exclusive 7″ B side: A Spell A Rebel Yell, FREE with the NME on 07/05/08……reminds me of Ian Brown and the Stone Roses with a hint of Liverpool lads Echo & The Bunnymen.

And of course CMYK would not be complete without the King Monkey man classic: Ian Brown - F.E.A.R (Unkle Remix)

Also check out the video for Crooked by Evil Nine (Looks like a animated and angry version of Zig and Zag!): Evil Nine feat Aesop Rock - Crooked, who have also remixed tracks such as Unkle - Reign Feat Ian Brown.

A-Trak remix and tour

If you’re lucky and live in one of the European towns mentioned in this link here (Manchester tonight anyone?) then you will be able to catch our favourite hip hop turned electro house producer DJ A-Trak doing his turntable thing this spring…

The boy from canada (seen above holding mates piss) has come a long way since becoming the youngest ever winnner of the DMC DJ Championships.
(I still  giggle at the footage of him DJing from around those days at an event called the Summit…. his mum proudly tapping here  foot as he jammed with Noise and Roc Raider…)

Anyway A-Track is now a top party rocker and plots world domination with his record label Fools Gold.
Top A-Trak remixes that have been floating around and heavy hitters at CMYK parties are the mighty:

Boyz Noize  - OH!(A-Trak remix)mp3

and

The Count and Sinden - Beeper (A Trak remix)mp3

Bonus for you is that we got a fresh new trak from friend and Fools Gold alumni Sammy Bananas. I think you can only describe this as properly bananas..

Your Love Goes Full Circle…….

The clip above is a gem from the classic documentary “Pump Up The Volume - The History of House Music”

The clip explains how Jamie Principle a kid from Chicago shook the Chicago clubscene with the original “Your Love” in later made famous by Frankie Knuckles and Candi Staton (complete with Spanish subtitles amigos!)

Fast forward to 22 years later and Friendly Fires give it the nod by regularly playing there version of this classic at gigs, check out Moshi Moshi Record Label:

Estaw - Break It Down

Estaw has been popping up with some quality remixes and cuts recently, most of which can be found at his home from home blog, the infamous Palms Out Sounds.

He hits the UK record shops with what is possibly his first full 12″ release
this week with the pretty dope Break It Down.

The release comes with a strong array of remixes from the likes of HerveDetboi and Chew Fu his palms out bro.

But despite the heavy weights its the original that does it for me and is getting the serious CMYK love.

This is fresh rap rave … an adventure into the dope side of house.

Santogold - L.E.S Atristes (xxxchange remix)

There is a pretty amazing line up of artists coming our way at the end of May…

Not only is the big CMYK party at the University Guild on 23rd
but the lucky people of Liverpool also have Sound Week starting Tuesday 27th May.

No doubt we’ll  do a fuller blog post here later the time but what i can tell you is Santogold is hitting town that week, hosting Alma de Cuba on Wedneday 28th.

The New York based performer who is hotly tipped this year to break through is
about to release her album mid May and her single  LES Artistes is already making waves.

For your pleasure we have the always good xxxchange doing the duties on the remix.

Check out the mad decent blog for the heavy DJ Sega remix

And check this link care of Discodust for

South Rakkas Crew - Mad Again (Boy 8 Bit remix) mp3

Cover art is fading as fast as vinyl and CDs i guess….
once we all go digital will we need it anymore?
Will bloggers make their own cover art?
Will I become totally digital like the music and sleep on a bed made of silicon?
Can i live on electricity?

Answer me dam it!!
